The Bikita Institute of Technology (BIT) is a tuition-free community college located in Chimbidzikai Village, Bikita Ward 15, Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe.
We combine free STEM education with with remote job placement for out-of-school youth in the Bikita district, empowering them with the skills they need to become self-reliant.
Our vision is to build a critical mass of STEM skills in Bikita, positioning the district as a hub of innovation, tech entrepreneurship, and talent for Zimbabwe, Africa, and the rest of the world.
Through our local and international partnerships, BIT offers internationally recognized qualifications in data science, software engineering, project management, and information technology.
As a social enterprise that offers tuition-free education to rural youth, BIT ensures sustainability through a combination of grants, donations, and a one-time fee of $2,000 charged to companies that hire our graduates.
Our product is highly skilled software graduates who possess globally comparable problem-solving skills and real-world technical experience.
We achieve this by implementing project-based learning, which enables our students to work on real-world projects while obtaining internationally recognized qualifications.

Bikita is a rural district located in the Masvingo Province of Zimbabwe, with a population of 176,835 and covering an area of 524,246 hectares.
The district is divided into 32 wards, governed by three Members of Parliament (MP's), six Chiefs, 17 Headmen, and the Bikita Rural District Council.
Small-scale farming is the main source of income; however, climate change has caused heavy rainfall, flooding, and drought, compromising local livelihoods.
